Women Cricket Team won first ODI on South Africa
The Indian women cricket team won the first ODI.
The team won 8 wickets as part of the South Africa series.
Earlier, the safari women team were bowled out for 164 in the Indian bowlers’ aggregate, followed by Jemima Rodrigues (7 fours off 55: 65) and Priya Punia (75 not out: 8 fours off 124 balls). South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.
Pacer Julan Goswami found the opener Lizelle Lee (0) for the first ball of the innings. Lara Woolworth (39) and Trisha Chetty (14) then took a wicket each.
However, Wolverton Dipithisarma, Trisha Chetty and Migun du Prez (16) were sent off by Ekta Bisht.
Shikha Pandey bowled out Sunee Loose (22), Nadine de Klerk (0) and Shabnim Ismail (3) to Poonam Yadav Pavilion.
With the loss of 7 wickets for 115 runs, the final wicket of the Marijane Cup (54: 64 balls 6s) was combined with Nandumisan Sangasse (4), Sekhukhune (6) and Ayabonga Khakha (1 not out).
Goswami took 3 wickets for India while Shikha Pandey, Ekta Bisht and Poonam Yadav took 2 wickets each.
Deepthi Sharma took 1 wicket. After that, India beat the short target by playing and singing.
Priya Punia (75 not out: 8 fours out of 124 balls), who made her debut in the ODI series due to injury.
Jemima Rodrigues (55: 65 off 7 fours) added 89 runs for the first wicket.
Poonam Raut (3: 4 off 16: 38) then added 45 runs for the second wicket and captain Mithali Raj (11 not out) added an unbeaten 37 for the third wicket.
Priya Punia has been awarded ‘Player of the Match’. South African bowlers Nandumi Shansagase and Nadine de Clerk took the wicket.
