Russia summons the Israeli ambassador for her criticism of the Government

The Russian Government has announced the summons of the Israeli ambassador in Moscow for some “unacceptable” statements in which she accused the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, of minimizing the Holocaust perpetrated by Nazi Germany against the Jews.

For the Russian Foreign Ministry, these statements, made by Ambassador Simone Halperin in an interview with ‘Kommersant’, imply “distorting” the history and position of Moscow in matters of foreign policy, according to sources cited by the TASS agency.

Halperin, who began her work as ambassador at the beginning of last month, also questioned that Russia commemorates certain dates instead of others, which for Moscow even borders on “interference in internal affairs.”

The Russian Government, which has regretted among other things that Moscow’s collaboration could be called into question on issues such as the release of the hostages held by Hamas, has stated that it represents an “enormously adverse” start for Halperin’s diplomatic mission. which he has called on to work for the “development of bilateral relations.”
